About the Chorus
Auditions
School auditions for students in grades 4, 5, 6, and 7, interested in the choir commence April and run through till June. Students in the schools under the jurisdiction of the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board and the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board are eligible. You can also make an appointment for a private auditon by contacting us.
The audition requires the student to:
- sing a simple song or part of O Canada
- perform ear and rhythm tests
- read prose at the grade eight level
To Audition:
Parents wishing to have their child(ren) auditioned privately are requested to contact the office via e-mail at auditions@hpechildrenschorus.ca stating name of candidate, address, phone number and e-mail address (if available), age, and grade. You will be contacted forthwith.
Private music studies are an asset (but not a requirement).
Students and parents will be informed if and when a secondary test is required.
The secondary or final audition consists of a more intense test and an interview with the chorister candidate and parents.
