About the Chorus

Parent Support Group of the Hastings and Prince Edward Children's Chorus, Inc.

All parents of the Hastings and Prince Edwards Children’s Chorus members belong to the Parent Support Group. The Group assists the Director and Staff in managing the Chorus, and plays an important role in the areas of supervision, wardrobe, social events, public relations, transportation, touring and fundraising.

Parents take an active part in serving on Chorus Committees, and it is expected that parents will:

  • Assist, when required, with supervision on buses, at rehearsals, performances and tours
  • Ensure that transportation is provided so that choristers attend all rehearsals and performances on time

Aims of the Parent Support Group

To support the primary purpose of the Chorus’ existence to provide vocally talented and gifted children, within the setting of a semi-professional children’s choir, with high-level artistic experiences both in choral singing and choral literature.

To provide for the development in youth of the attributes of good citizenship and leadership.

To stimulate the interest in vocal and choral activities.

To share the talents of choristers with others.

To enable choristers to belong to the Chorus regardless of financial considerations.

Assist choristers in organizing personal and school time in such a manner that choristers’ obligations to the Chorus can be met

  • Assist choristers in maintaining their uniforms and other choir related materials
  • Be aware of the activities of the Chorus' choirs and promote the Chorus wherever and whenever possible
  • Participate in fundraising activities
